We created a special award to memorialize a FirstGlance Film Festival Alum that departed too soon.
Started in 2020 at our 20th FirstGlance Los Angeles Film Festival, we began awarding the Mela Hudson Filmmaker Award of Excellence, to one film directed by a women or with a strong female lead that deals with mental health issues, female empowerment or women overcoming the odds at each festival.
Mela was a multi year, returning FirstGlance Alum with a bright future in the indie film industry and she will be missed.
